In a world often marked by divisions and differences, there exists a remarkable place that stands as a testament to the universal essence of humanity – Louvre Abu Dhabi. Situated in the heart of the UAE’s capital Abu Dhabi, this groundbreaking museum transcends boundaries, inviting visitors on a journey through the shared history of humankind. To me, visiting Louvre Abu Dhabi and later becoming a licensed Louvre Abu Dhabi tour guide opened up an incredible new understanding of the world around me and opened a new chapter of fascinating search and discovery. I am still on this journey, and I invite you to join me!

The museum complex is an art piece on its own and is designed to appear to be floating on water. Simply mesmerizing!

The museum opened its doors in 2017 as the flagship masterpiece of cultural district of Saadiyaat island. At the core of Louvre Abu Dhabi’s mission is the celebration of our common heritage. Unlike traditional museums that focus solely on national or regional narratives, Louvre Abu Dhabi emphasizes the interconnectedness of cultures, languages, religions, and civilizations. It serves as a reminder that despite our diverse backgrounds, we share fundamental experiences and aspirations.

There are around 600 artworks represented at the permanent galleries. Half of them belong to Louvre Abu Dhabi and the other half are the loans from French partners and museums around the world. Although the museum has deep rooted cooperation with the French government, rest assured that Louvre Abu Dhabi is a government owned Emirati museum with its own constantly growing collection of art works.

From the dawn of civilization to the present day, Louvre Abu Dhabi offers a panoramic view of humanity’s collective journey, highlighting both the beauty of diversity and the threads that bind us together.

From the mesmerizing dome that appears to float above the water to the interplay of light and shadow under it, every aspect of the design invites contemplation and wonder.
